In one of the most profound acts of Jesus days on earth, we read the story of Lazarus, Martha and Mary. The story starts out with Mary and Martha sending a word to Jesus saying, “Lord, the one you love is sick.” (John 11:3) They were certain that Jesus would come and heal their brother Lazarus. It’s so wonderful to know that no matter what situation we are in today, Jesus loves you and me. And because he loves you and me, He will come and deliver us from our problems. It may not be in our timing, but He will come. In response to Lazarus’ sickness, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it’s for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it." (John 11:4) Sometimes our sickness becomes an instrument of glory for the Lord. People will also glorify God because of the healing that God brings to our lives. As we continue to read from this story, we find out that though Jesus said that Lazarus’ sickness was for God’s glory to be revealed, He stayed where He was two more He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. I Peter 2:24 He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Psalm 107:20 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." Matthew 21:22
God’s timing is totally different from man’s timing. During those two days, Lazarus died and Jesus finally left to go to Bethany. When He arrived, Martha and Mary out of their grief told Jesus that their brother would not have died if he had come earlier. They knew Jesus as a healer but not as one who could raise the dead. Did you know that when the dead and life meet the dead would rise? We were all dead in our sin but when Jesus came into our hearts we became alive. Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26) Do you believe? Jesus then asks them where they laid Lazarus’ body and when they showed Him the tomb, He asked them to remove the stone. You may have prayed and fasted for a prayer to be answered but have not found your answer. In fact, you might have even buried and placed it in a tomb for some time like Lazarus was.
The Lord is asking you to remove the stone of unbelief and doubt. This would assure your answer to prayer. Jesus said to Martha’s opposition to removing the stone of Lazarus’s tomb, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” John 11:40 Whether your issue today is family related, finance or sickness, determine in your heart that you will believe and see the glory of God! Nothing is impossible with God. God said to Jeremiah, “I am the God of all flesh. Is there anything too difficult for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27) He’s asking you the same question today. Believe and receive your miracle!
